Pullet or Roo? 10 wk old Ancona

I have a 10-week old Ancona, too! I am hoping she is a pullet but I have had my doubts, too. She is not crowing or anything but her comb is pinker than the rest of the babies'. She also has that very straight, stand-uppy tail but I haven't seen any sickle feathers yet. I am happy to see so many people saying pullet!

Me too! I love these chickens and would hate to lose this one - they are so interesting to watch and they seem to lead the pack well. They aren't cuddly chickens that like to be held but once I catch them they settle comfortably in my arms.

Time will tell... I'll come update this thread when I know for sure!

I think she looks like a hen, she has rounded feathers at the end.

I am saying Pullet. My Anconas back in Spring matured really fast! My roo had a large red comb by 4 weeks of age and the others did not....Also, your girl had rounded hackle feathers and I do not see any Sickle feathers...just long rounded feathers in the tail.

I examined her feathers very closely and there are no signs of the sickles or saddle feathers - she has the same feathers as the rest of the girls. Both Anconas are tall, but they've been that way since day one.

Do you have any pics of them at 3 weeks old? I got 5 extra roos for warmth from Ideal and I think they may be Anconas. Thanks!
