Hi everyone! I'm new to BYC. I'm trying to figure all this out. I apologize I think my pictures are enormous.
I would like to know your opinion. For starters, this chicken is supposed to be a blue laced red wyandotte. Which i'm not sure about. Any thiughts?
It should be a pullet. I purchased him/her at 9 or 10 weeks old from a backyard breeder. What are your thoughts, is this is a pullet or a roo. All of the pictures are recent except one that I marked. He/she should currently be approximately 14 to 15 weeks old.
Some info. All of the new pullets are still shy, except this one in particular. It is very bold. Charges right at me when I walk into the pen. Although will also run away from me if I move towards it.
On 2 separate occasions, while standing outside the pen, the BLRW jumped at me through the fence, feet first. The first time it happened was the day I brought them home, at 9-10 weeks. that day a second "pullet" saw it and tried it as well. although it didn't get much height and flopped on the ground. The BLRW got a good 2 feet off the ground before hitting the fence between us and falling down.
If I move a scoop around to clean up the poop or anything different I bring in the pen, it will often go towards it as if to scare off.
It will tussle around with my silver laced Wyandotte (same age). I think the SLW seems to start the tussle. They will puff up their chests, tussle a bit but often ending with the BLRW seeming to run away. The SLW is very shy towards me.
The BLRW doesn't seem to be growing any faster than the others. It does have small spurs but so do some of the others.
It has the start of a straight comb versus the rose comb of the other 2 Wyandottes that I have.
My 5 pullets are about 14-15 weeks old. Blue laced red wyandotye, Silver laced wyandotte, Gold laced wyandotte, 2 Green queens.
The 5 new pulits are in a separate but adjoining pen next two my five existing adult chickens, hoping to integrate them soon.
By the time I wrote this post and actually figured out how to post the pictures, it's late and will probably end up checking back in tomorrow. Sorry to post and run.
Thank you in advance for all your help!
