We waited two months to get these Wyandottes because we heard they were less chatty than our RR's and they are. Very quiet birds __ until today!
We think we may have a Roo in the mix!
Would a pullet ever have the florescent green in the tail?
I think i found the answer. I found a similar question with some great responses. By looking at their feathers and coloring I am pretty darn sure that i have one Roo and two hens.
The middle bird is much larger than the other two and HIS face is very red. He has the saddle feathers that i can see and his feet are huge. I know the one on the left is a hen, Dixie is tiny. My only worry is that Doodoo, on the right is also a Roo. I hope not. Only the bird in the middle has the red face and large feet....and also made a very distinctive noise earlier.
gosh i hope the one on the right, Doodoo is a pullet. I hope. In this picture the one i suspect is on the right. Dixie in the middle is obviously a hen. The one on question that you suggested might be a Roo is on the left. What indicators are you looking at?
Look at the one on the right and notice the raised comb, whereas the one on the left doesn't have such a raised comb. Now look at waddles. See how the one on the rights waddles are drooped and rounded? Then look at the left one. Hers are more against her head and oval. Now size. The one on the right is very large compared to the one on the left. And lastly, look at leg thickness. Pan back and forth between the legs on the one on the right then to the left one. See?
Thank you. Yes, i agree if you are taking about this picture:
I was worried there for a second because all 3 birds have been very quiet, almost too quiet, until yesterday morning when the Rooster must have been startled by a feral cat. Then again this morning he made an attempt to crow. The one on the left started making some clucking noises that she normally doesn't make... just has me worried.
Dang, i really wanted three layers!
Thank you so much.
