Is the tail shape an indicator at all? I’ve noticed noodle’s tail is different from Lady’s and Ella’s.

I wouldn't necessarily assume that.

I'm no good with EEs and the type in general, but I'd expect thicker legs on a male.

Legs are thicker, but also larger overall. Noodle feels more dense in the body, if that makes sense.

Kinda seems to ‘herd’ the other ones sometimes. My husband said he heard someone trying to crow this morning, but isn’t 5 weeks too early?

It's a bit early, but not unheard of. If it was actually crowing, the comb and wattles would be a vibrant red first.

I wasn’t there lol. I kinda figured it was just an attempt at ‘normal’ chicken sounds.

No wattles or any color in the comb... though my Wyandotte is starting to get a hint of color in his/her comb.

Update on Noodle.

Definite attempts at crowing. It sounds like some sort of raptor dying. It’s really odd.

Still no comb development, but there’s orangey-red feathers on the back and wings now.

You know, I guess sometimes it does happen that early before stuff reddens up. It's not super common I don't think, but hey... If it crows, it's a boy.

Another Noodle update

They moved to the coop on the 17th, so I’ve no idea if the crowing is continuing lol.

He? herds the other chicks though, always making sure that he knows where everyone is.

Comb area is changing color, but that’s it for development. Ella, my GLW has more comb/wattle development lol.

The BO is Lady.
