You won't see rooster specific feathering until around 10-12 weeks. The coloring is more indicative of male though, as they tend to have more splashy and uneven coloration than females.

I believe so. That's a lot of red in the face for 6 weeks. Also look at the thickness of the legs.

Ugh I agree. His wattles have grown a lot. He’s also very skittish compared to the pullet. I don’t know if that’s a gender thing or a breed thing but he’s hard to catch!

Cockerels are actually usually the "friendliest"/boldest, so that's a little different.

That’s what I expected so I’ve been a little confused. We are with our chickens a lot and handle them and he runs around scared.

Maybe the older ladies have already put him in his place, so he's not being uppity. *shrug*

That’s a good point. They are all orpingtons and are much bigger than he is. They have no problem keeping each other in place so I’m sure the same applies to him!

I’ll post another photo at 8 weeks before I rehome him and will keep my fingers crossed that out of some stroke of luck he turns into a pullet!
