Yes his wattle is bigger than the Australorp but I was hoping that was because he was a fast growing meat chicken (not going to eat him/her though). I still hope it’s a girl as I already have one rooster who is a lovely gentle kind rooster.The wattle development and spur bump on the leg makes it look like a boy to me, and so do the hackle feathers--wispy at the edges. It's a little young to tell. Unless, of course, he starts crowing...!
Not sure how old. I bought him/her with just developed adult feathers. Interesting on the spurs though, as my rooster (my avatar) has no spurs at all. Thought he was a hen for ages till he started to get longer tail feathers and the frillier neck feathers. Even his little pea comb was tiny.She’s a pullet, imo. I don’t see any pointed feathers, which, when fully feathered like that, should be visible. Her legs look very dainty. Spur development doesn’t have anything to do with sex, hens grow them too.
