Pullet or Rooster???

Quote:
Last year I had one RIR developing like that. Thought for sure we had a Roo, but was also hoping for a roo as we didn't have one at the time. Anyway it was a pullet as they said. she NOW is just the largest bird in the flock with the largest comb and waddles than all the other RIRs. Has a darker comb and waddles too!! She is huge and just acts like a Roo... but absolutely not.......she lays eggs-

So maybe you'll luck out and find yours is a she with an identity crisis like ours-

Okay, now I don't know what to think. Thanks for all the opinions, though. S/he acts more aggressive than the other two chicks. Always has. Pecks at my hand when I reach in to feed them. I guess if it starts to crow and doesn't lay eggs when the others do, we'll know! LOL! Hopefully I can find a good home for him by then, so my neighbors don't complain. I can't have any animals that are a "nuisance," and a rooster would probably qualify in the city's eyes....

Does anyone have pics or a link to pics of a RIR rooster around this age? So I can compare? TIA!

It sure looks like that barred rock is a rooster to me. If it was me I think I would wait until it started to crow before I got rid of it though. You know we all could be wrong and it turns out to be a hen.

But I really don't think that is going to happen. Although, when I was younger my cousins got a Bantim Buff Brahma, and I was convinced that it was a hen. Well it turned out to be a rooster, and I still hear about it to this day.

Flockof5, I am sure that your Rir is a rooster. Although I doubt that the store will take it back, if you wanted to take it back, because they usually only guarantee like 90% accuracy on sexing.
