Pullet pooping blood

Since you're in Canada, getting amprolium (Corid or Amprol) might be tricky. I think you have to go it at a vet office... just go in and say you need some Amprolium (Corid or Amprol) for your calves, someone her said that's what they did and the vets just sold it to them.

We really need an expert Canadian to start a thread on how to obtain medicines commonly used in poultry, like amprolium and fenbendazole.

Do you know anything about whether or not we can eat the eggs before and after treatment?
None of my girls are acting strangely, and I spent a lot of time sitting trying to see one poop. No luck.
Can plain stress cause that?
(I just emailed you, Kathy :) Thx)

I believe there is no withdrawal time when treating with amprolium, but I have nothing to back that up with.

Update : I have been combing the coop, and no bloody poop.
I couldn't find any corid or sulfa solutions at my feed store. They only had powder antibiotics which I read wouldn't suffice.
I'll try to get to the vet today.
In the meantime, there's electrolytes in the water, and I put ash in a pan. Back in the day, my grandfather used it to worm his animals.
I gave it a try. Worst case scenario they get some minerals.

Purchase at vet,ask for AMPROL(amprolium)it is not called Corid in Canada, just Amprol,at least in MB. Call ahead to make sure they have some in stock. My vet sells me about 500 ml at a time, costs around $12.00. Explain to them that you know what it is used for,and that you are aware of all the dosage information. Otherwise they will confuse you and themselves trying to figure it out, if vet has little knowledge on subject.

Correct,no withdrawal time for Amprolium(Corid,Amprol). For Sulfamethazine(Sulmet) - 10 days,for Sulfadimethoxine(Di-Methox,Albon) - 5 days.(I believe this is not available in U.S. or Canada for commercial use)

There had been no more blood for a couple of days, then whamo! I have at least 3 pullets pooping significant blood. Hubby is on the way home with Amprolium.
Vet here only sells by the gallon lol... Just had to share that.
I think that's enough to treat all of the chickens in the county.

lol well maybe you could sell it by the 1/2 pints to your friends and neighbors.

if this stuff is for calves and you tell the vet that, how will you know how much to use for a chicken and do you add it to their water or by mouth or what?
