Pullet possibly given too much protein?

Hi,

I noticed today, that one of my pullets had some unusual looking diarrhea (beige, like makeup foundation). She will be heading for a date with the vet if it's not cleared up by the end of the day tomorrow. However, I think I have a theory on what the problem might be. She is on grower feed, I fed her mealworms, and my Mom fed her salmon (She's the tamest chicken, so usually gets most of the treats). So, I'm thinking we gave her waay too much protein, causing her to produce a lot of urea. Does this sound accurate? If so, is there anything I can do to help her (Besides stopping the protein containing treats, which I will do). I would hate for her to get permanent kidney damage from our mistake, if that's what the problem is.

Thanks,

Susan

I suspect that you are right in that she has eaten too much protein. Cut out the extra protein and see if it clears up. Even if that isn't the cause of the odd poop, it is way too much protein. One other possibility is that she ate enough salmon to color her poop.

Thanks. She is back to normal now, so I think it probably was the salmon
