Pullet practicing egg song?

Is your chicken 'squatting' when you go to touch or pick her up? My Henny-Penny started that a few weeks before she started laying her eggs.

My other two Silkies are now 'squatting' when I go to pick them up or touch them, they are also doing the squawking my other hen is doing but I am not so sure about that as I am about the squatting.

She is squatting, and also laying now! I've gotten 3 eggs so far

That's great! Glad to hear all is going well, always egg-citing when you get those first eggs.

I just heard the "chicken song" from one of my 18 week pullets. I've never heard it from my girls. It sounds just like the one my neighbors chickens do. I seriously thought is was the neighbors hens. I looked out and she was doing it proudly on top of the fire pit (not going). Has she laid the egg or getting ready too?

She may have lain and egg, is getting ready to in the next couple hours, or is practicing it. You should expect to get an egg in the next couple weeks if not days.

Maybe she sacrificed something into the fire pit?
