Hi I'm new to the chicken scene and was wondering if the pullets available at online hatcheries are young hens not far from starting to lay. Sorry if this is a dumb question. LOL And do you think it's worth it to buy them this way as opposed to buying older chickens locally. I'm really not interested in starting with chicks just yet.

some hatcheries offer like 3 started hens for $100 including shipping.an they would be 12wks old or so.its cheaper to find hens locally that are ready to lay.
