We have a black Ameraucana pullet named Raven. She just started laying some pretty blue eggs.

But she has been making really loud squawking/screaming noises. She'll be like, "Errr...Errrrr...EERRRRR!!!"(last part is much more high pitched, and she will stick out her neck while doing it). NO, she is NOT a rooster!!!! She is the only Ameraucana that we have, and she laid 2 blue eggs.

Any ideas?

I don't believe she's eggbound. She laid her first egg, skipped a day, laid another, skipped a day, and not sure if she laid one today. I believe the skipping to lay an egg every day is because she JUST started laying and isn't on a regular schedule yet; that's what all of our pullets have done anyway. They start laying and it takes a few days to get into the routine.

Forgot to add: she's eating normally, and is the sweetest little chicken! When I walk by the outside run, she will run along the fence, begging for me to feed her some grass.

She acts normal and acts like she's not in pain.

My dad says that maybe the cold got to her head last winter; one night it got REALLY cold and her light went out while she was out in the brooder box. Her friend, Pumpkin, kept her warm, luckily.

But my dad says that the cold may have messed her head up somehow! LOL She does act funny; she will cock her head in strange ways and when she walks, she bobs her head back and forth really fast and walks really funny!

Maybe she's just messed up in the head and that's why she screams all the time

My Polish hens do the same exact thing when they are about to lay but don't know where and they walk back and forth jump up on things and back down til they find the perfect spot.
