I have a 12 week old pullet that I bought from a swap 4 weeks ago. She has been in isolation for four weeks with one exception about a week an a half ago when I tried to introduce her to my laying hens (thinking one pecked her). Her eye has been swollen for a week now, it seems to have been getting better until today. She is eating and drinking, acting normally (will scratch and peck in the yard) I have been giving her OAC vinegar and vitamins in her water every couple days and stepped it up today with some garlic, as well as ophthalmic gel in the affected eye. Now sure what I can do from here, I don't want to put her down so I'm hoping there are some home remedies I can use.

It kind of looks like an eye worm. I am treating one of my pullets for that right now. They can get from eating a cockroach. I am using Ivermectin, liquid. 3 drops in 2 times a day.

Hello There,
I had a similar eye problem with one of my hens. My solution was to use NEOSPORIN from the drug store ( over the counter). It is very important to use the Neosporin WITHOUT PAIN RELIEF ADDED TO IT. I used it 2 times each day directly on the eye ball and she was considerably improved after 3 or 4 days. Give it a shot.....keep us posted.
Good Luck!

Thank you all for the response. I will certainly give the neosporin a shot! Other than the eye there are no signs of sickness, no sneezing or coughing, no drainage from the eye or nose. She is wet in the picture from a saline flush.. I put the organic apple cider vinegar in her water to maybe help her digestion as not to worry about a secondary problem from handling her, she is new and not used to being touched.

The same thing happened to my silver laced Wyandotte chick after a week or so it cleared up. So don't worry much it's gonna be okay!
