Pullet with possible sinus infection? Need advice!

sunny & the 5 egg layers :

UPDATE:
I noticed while she was outside this evening that her poop was completely watery. It wasn't runny like cecal poop. It was all watery. Previously today she pooped solid and it had a greenish tint to it. Her face is still really swollen and I am not sure if I should get her polyvistol without iron, or Duramycin. Also, if I did give her Polyvistol, what would the dosage be?
It was really hot out today and she was panting like crazy. At one point I felt so bad for her that I carried her in my basement to cool her off a bit. It seemed to help a bit with the panting. She really misses her friends though. Is there anything I can do for her that will make her miss her friends less?

Thanks again.

Polyvisol is an infant vitamin. Duramyacin is an antibiotic.

Polyvisol will help her fight the infection. Duramyacin will fight the infection for her. I agree wit previous poster that Tylan 50 is your best bet.
Go to TS and get a bottle, a pack of 3cc syringes and a pack of 20 ga, 1/2" needles and give her 1/2 cc a day for 3 to 5 days.

I would go straight to the tylan too. Also, if she's not better in 5 days you can give it longer. I would give it at least 3 days after she seems completely better. You could try putting a stuffed animal in and see if she likes it. I know chicks do, but don't know if a larger bird would buy it as a friend.

I had a rooster who got bit by a bee and his whole face swelled kinda lopsided like that. He was ok but sure scared me it was so sudden.

Chickens sometimes sneeze. How often is the sneezing?

She looks pretty healthy. Except for the swollen part. What is her temperature? Do you have any polyvisol or probiotics/vitamin and electrolytes from the Farm Store? This could boost her strength. I use Merrik Brand Blue Ribbon vitamin @ electrolyte powder and put it in their water to boost their immune system. It is very cheap at the Farm Store in town.

I dunno about the tiredness.

Good luck.

She isn't sneezing at all. Her symptoms include:
Swollen Face (only one eye)
She had super watered down poop yesterday but I only noticed it once
She has been really thirtsy it seems but it has also been hot
Panting and shaking her head yesterday.

I haven't taken her tempature, but I did notice that her feet were super hot yesterday morning. I haven't checked her feet this morning. Her face is still super swollen up. I don't have any polyvisol or probiotics/vitams or electrolytes. I am going to be going out this morning and will get some for her. What should I get her exactly?
Thanks again.

Panting would be that she is hot. Shaking her head, wow thats scary. How much?

Merriks Blue Ribon Vitamin and Electrolytes powdered packet is under $2. Just a little bit in the water. Anything that has the vits and electrolytes is good plus the probiotics. Yogurt (active culture) can work for good probiotics but a little goes a long way as it will/can give them diarhea. So better to get some powdered probiotics for chickens. But, That Merriks Blue Ribbon has it in there.

I m not an expert so I hate to give too much advice.

Just wondering if you have an isolated flock and no chance of them getting infected then I dont know how she could get an infection. But things do carry quite a ways in the air. If you hatched from eggs were they from an MG free flock? I

think you have to weigh for yourself the pros and cons of giving antibiotics or just supportive care. If she really seems sick, then maybe antibiotics. And how much does she mean to you? I think a lot. She is very pretty. Thats concerning about the head shaking. And her still swollen face. Does the inside of her mouth look good? Any globs on her inside beak or throat?

Putting a little Apple cider vinegar in her water could be good for keeping the bad micro flora down, but not at the same time you put vits @ mins in her water.

Temps run high in chickens, but if her comb feels real hot I bet she has a temp. If her temp is above 106* its too high.

Gee I hope you can get this figured out and your hen gets better.

Just a teeny tiny piece of aspirin in her mouth may help her feel better. once like 1/32- a piece

I went to the store and picked up some pedialyte and polyvisytol without iron. I filled her waterer with half a quart of pedialyte and half 1ml of polyvistol. I was watching her for a few minutes while she was outside earlier and I noticed her itching underneath her eye (where it is swollen). I did not hatch her myself I bought her from TSC back in march along with 5 other birds (1 dark brahma, 2 production reds, 2 australorps) they are all the same age. Her face is more swollen today. I will have to take a picture, it seems to be more around her eye today. She means a lot to me as she is the nicest chicken out of the 6. How long should I keep feeding her the pedialyte and polyvistol? I read that the correct dosage of the polyvistol is 1ml and I was wondering how often I should give this to her? Is this something she could have picked up from a wild bird? I will have to check her for anything on the inside of her beak, and I will have to feel her comb.
Thanks again.

It kinda looked like she had a black eye in a spot where the swollen eye was.

I dont know what the dose for polyvisol is. I will have to see if I can find that.

TSC gets them from a hatchery so it would seem that they would be MG free. But you never know.

It always seems like something happens to the favorites

ETA: Polyvisol 3 drops a day for a week and then taper off. Also, a good scrambled egg here and there wouldnt hurt.

Oh and the Pedialyte can be diluted some

ETA again: Oxine is excellent to spray around the bird. It is about $30 a gallon or can be bought in a smaller quantity. You mix only a few drops per gallon of water and use a a spray. It is something I have on hand all the time. If interested I will post some links.

Please check out my blog post on respiratory illness in my signature. Breathing through the mouth also occurs when their nose is stopped up, just like us. My Brahma was the one who originally got sick and she would shake her head too. Even now that she is well, she still does a weird opening her mouth thing and makes a weird noise. The kids call it her allergies. Anyways, that's how I fixed mine. Hope it helps!
