ravenxxx....dont forget....when they come in....put them in thier coop, and keep them there for at least a week....dont let them out right away. That way they know where they are supposed to be in the evenings, and where the food comes from. Have fun with the girls!! I get 25 peeps in the mail...some time next week. WOOHOO! That will take my "little" flock up to 40+.

Thanks guys think ive got it covered then!! like the idea of a dust bath going to try that one.

Just two more question

When will my girls start to lay?
Can you eat the first bunch of eggs they ever lay???

Yes you can eat the eggs, they will just be smaller for a while. What breed did you order? I've heard of them laying at 4 to 7 months old, but like said before, they need 14 hours of daylight before they'll start laying. Also don't feed them the Oyster shell until they start laying.

I'm not familiar with Ross Rangers, however usually around 20 weeks old. If you decide to free range, keep the pullets in the pen and coop for 2 weeks so they know where home is. Then start by leaving them out for a few hours before dusk and they will stay close and learn where to go at dusk. Good Luck.....
