i have 6 pullets that are about 3 months old. they are outside in a 12' x 12' x 2' caged run and a dog house with a hinged lid serves as their coop. the house is attached to the run with chicken wire so its almost inside the run. ive used this in the past, but only with 3 girls when they were laying age. heres my dilema:

i dont think the house is big enough for the 6 of them when they get full size. its about 3x2x2. i dont have any heavy breeds, but still.. theres 6 of them. i can buy another house like that for about $150 or i can guy a new coop thats big enough for all of them for about $350..... what would you do?

if i have 2 of the dog houses, will they get confused? will i have to do anything other then check both houses for eggs when we get to egg laying time?

ill try and add pics of the current set up, in case youre a visual person (like me)

Yeah, you are right. That sounds like it will be pretty crowded. I don't think that even 2 doghouses are big enough for 6, unless they are bantams. I think I'd go for the 1 larger coop for them all. Not that I think they'll get confused, but they may decide that they want to stay together at night and just pile into one doghouse anyways.

Good luck
