Pullets, Hen with chicks, BUGS!

So I cleaned the coop today with soapy bleach water after removing all pine shavings and dusting. I checked all my girls (AGAIN) and they are still perfectly bug free :bow. I couldn’t go to town today due to road construction at my driveway but I’ll probably be going tomorrow. After putting the coop back together I waited a few hours after dark and went out with my flashlight. NO BUGS! I also checked my girls again the poor things.

:fl Cross your fingers this is some crazy mite looking critter that will stay away!

Hopefully so. Buggies are so frustrating and happen to the best of us.

Obviously you will need to do periodic rechecks. Unfortunately mites can almost be microscopic at first.

Time will tell.

Personally, I'd still do a good spray with permethrin. Being ahead is much better than catching up from behind.

Insects can be notoriously hard to ID positively...there are so many different kinds, many are of no threat to chickens.
If they were on birds I'd not worry too much, just keep a watch.
Did they leave a red streak when you squished them?
