Hello,

I am sorry if this is a dumb question or has already been asked but I am new to raising chickens. Thank you so much in advance.

Two days ago we got our first egg!

will they start laying everyday or do they have to build up to that? I have 15 sex link chickens and I have been getting two eggs a day so does hat mean I have two chickens laying?

Also since I got them all at the same time and they are the same breed will they all start laying soon within a couple weeks or does that not matter? I know they lay when they are ready I just was curious if they were same breed and age if they had any factor.

Thank you so much again.

Welcome to BYC! And congrats on the eggs!

You have a laying hybrid, so my guess would be they all start laying at around 16-22 weeks of age. They do have to build up to it. They will start with a few small eggs and soon you should be getting eggs from nearly every one of them every day! (they generally take a day off once a week, at least in many breeds).
We sometimes get over two dozen eggs in a single day from our chickens!

Best of luck to you.
