Hi all. I know the father of 4 of these is a Brahma/Orpington mix, with a little of ?? Trying to figure out if some are pullets and if some are cockerels. They are 6 weeks old.

Of the two black and white ones, I think the one on the bottom is a cockerel. Can you tell by the tail feathers that curve downward? And this one is bigger than the rest. The one on the top hasn't gotten any real feathers on its tail yet.

Or are they still to young to tell??

It's hard to get pictures of their faces, with the way they run around! LOL! Will try to get more tomorrow.

These are the other 3. I'm hoping the speckled one is a pullet! I want to keep that one as she's so different looking in the face. But the 2 buff colored ones act like pullets as does the speckled one. I know they are to young to tell as far as how they act. But the 2 black and white ones are definitely more "cocky" than the rest. No pun intended! LOL!

I think I'm seeing mostly pullets...maybe all pullets...nothing jumping out roo yet.

My barnyards can leave me guessing, but the best indicator is comb development, and nobody looks like they've got much going on yet.

The one white bird in top photo that is a bit patchy in color pattern might be a rooster...but my barnyards change so much as they grow and molt through a lot of feather patterns that the final bird can be quite different than the original juvenile.

So, thus far, I think nobody is screaming roo.

Ok, here are some updated pictures I took a couple hours ago. The biggest black and white one that I think is a rooster and the other black and white one, both of their combs turned red while they were eating their treats! Non of the other ones did. But here are some better pictures of them all this morning. I think 3 of them are pullets. Of course, Junebuggena, in that I may not be able to tell until they are 12 weeks old. It did take my Orpington longer to mature than the Wyandottes.
The First 3 pictures are of the 1 that I think is a rooster. The second set are of the other one that I'm not sure about. The 5th and 6th pictures are of the other 2 that I think are pullets and the last 2 pictures are of the same one, and I think it may be a pullet too. This is the odd ball one that I'm gonna keep!

That first one is definitely a boy. The second one might be a boy. The buff and the speckled look like pullets for now, hope it stays that way. The speckled one is really cute.

The 1st Brahma is a cockerel.

The 2nd, hmmm.... I'm not sure, could go either way, leaning towards cockerel.

The 3rd and 4th are both pullets! Those are both SO pretty! I love crossbreeding! :weee

My guesses....
1st one is a roo
2nd one...I'm thinking pullet, but that is a blocky pattern, so watch...but with barnyards, as I've said, the color pattern generally doesn't follow standards
3rd and 4th are pullets

Thanks everyone. Seems we all agree! I'm wondering if the second Brahma (Looking one), will get real tail feathers. He (or she), still has down on the body too. The little tail looks so funny! And that one was the first one that hatched. Oh! Almost forgot, that second one, went to pick a little fight and instead of chest bumping like the rest of them, he fought with the cockerel with his feet! I've never seen my girls do that, so was wondering if its just a boy thing or what? But it leads me to believe that that second one may be a He!
I hope the other 3 stay pullets too!
