Oh ... that's a great idea. So just post the pics on the main forum and label it a Cockerel poll? Also would it be advisable to keep 3 cockerels with 5 or 6 hens do you think? To be honest I don't even know what breeds I have. But definitely a mixed bunch of free range. I will have trouble giving them away because I have become so attached to each of them.If you’re having trouble deciding, and it really doesn’t matter to you, you could run a poll and we can help you decide.
Almost forgot-![]()
Thank youHello and welcome to BYC!Glad you joined.
All but 1 & 3 are cockerels. You should rehome all but one cockerel. And they will need to be penned separately from the pullets until they find homes or they will make their lives miserable.
I'm glad I joined too, love this group. Very responsive!Welcome to BYC! We're glad you joined us!![]()
It is best to choose a cockerel based on his behavior versus his appearance. You want a bird that is not human aggressive, that is gentle with the girls, that tidbits them and that keeps and look out for predators. That's what makes a good flock leader.Oh ... that's a great idea. So just post the pics on the main forum and label it a Cockerel poll?
