Thanks Hodowden

Nope no brown feathers on Big Poppa, but he moves so much, every single picture I have of him is blurry! And he's not running because he so active, he runs because he is the only skittish, scaredy cat-bird out of this bunch. I think he is constantly screaming "Stranger danger!!"

I hope you are right on the girls. It will be interesting to see

. I do think some of the combs just look smaller, like on Evelyn (the second one) for instance, because he/she has a pea comb..but oh I hope I have some girls.

Thanks again
Jessa

My best guesses:

Boston - Mottled Java mom
Evelyn - white EE mom
Paris and Houston - NHR or Comet mom
Philly and Concord - brown EE mom
NY - Comet mom (white coming down from RIW or white rock)

Buff Brahma has columbian coloring so those chicks would have been obvious. Not seeing any SLW mixes either.

I also thought a lot of your chicks look rooish due to big legs and feet and comb size. I hope I'm wrong on that one!

Thanks Ceeceeholt, Philadelphia does look a bit like a bald eagle!! I hadn't even noticed

Ptldchick Thank you! NY was the most confusing trying to figure out what mom he'd/she'd come from! That makes sense!

Howdowden, absolutely. I appreciate the help...plus, I love taking pictures of these guys (and gals!!?!?!). My kids say I take more of the chickens then of them!

Thanks everyone.

Here are the new pics. Any guesses on gender/and or breed would be great...I can only keep one roo, and will have to part with the extra roos soon, before I get anymore attached:( Thank you for your time!

A. This is Boston. Thought he/she had a pea comb, but it is starting to get pointy. Still the comb is very small. Also thought easter egger...but a little thrown off by the pointy comb.

OOOH I hope you're right! Would be nice to have more pullets than roos! As I am trying to learn more, what makes you say pullet to 1,2, 3, 4 and 7 (i just remembered what yous said about not going by leg size!) so how do you tell!?

? You've been very helpful, thanks!

their age and the size of the combs/wattles compared to one another. when the feathers around their neck come in better you will be able to tell by the shape of the tips...if they are pointed you most likely have a roo if they are round its a hen. by the look of the photos they are starting to get their big bird feathers in around their necks. if you want us to use those feathers to try and help post pics in about 2 weeks to give the feathers a chance to come in. pics can be a side shot of the head and with the feathers try getting 2-3 apart from the others (with your finger under the feathers to help separate from the rest)

side shots make it easy to see the size of the comb and wattles plus please ade the age when you post the next pics for us. also a nice group shot can also help.

heres a pic of my bantams...the roo is in the back and if you can tell he has smaller legs than the pullet in the front. roos the one on the left and not my blue boy in the back:)
