So first of all, do the chickens think they're jays or do the jays think they're chickens?
Secondly, if you could get a picture of the chicken withthe babies in the nest. That picture would be worth putting in a photagraphy contest, or be submitting to a science journal.

I'd make sure the babies were still there O_O, lol a chicken will make short work of a baby bird, iI've seen ours snacking on ADULT birds, who knows HOW they caught them O_O.

but if alls well, that is kinda cute, I figured momma jay would have a FIT!

The baby is still in there, I have a pic of it somewhere.
Mama doesn't even squawk at them, it's the oddest thing. I'm thinking those will be my broody's, we'll see I guess.
