Pullets stopped laying

My pullet has stopped laying as well.

She has not laid in close to two weeks now - from this thread and others I am concerned about whether something is "stealing" the eggs - I am going to put out an egg today and see if it disappears. Her behavior is the same... I am completely stumped by the halt in laying.

All three of our BR pullets (9+ months old) had been laying 2-3 eggs per day since last October, then just 2 per day more recently. One of them took a vacation and it's been about two weeks. She hangs out with our rooster (no hanky-panky) while the other two report for work in the nest boxes. We were wondering if something is wrong with her, but after reading these posts, we won't be too concerned unless she never lays again. Incidentally, when she was laying she did a lot of squawking, and on occasion there was a light smear of blood on the shell. It makes us wonder if pain could be a factor -- is it?

Yikes! It might be pain for yours! My lady just took a hiatus and got back to work. Anything new happen with your flock? When one started brooding (and stealing my other ladies eggs to sit on) they all took a hiatus for 2 weeks and then got back to business. All of them need a break from time to time :) don't worry too much until its been a significant amount of time

Wow, can a chicken avoid laying eggs indefinitely because of pain during laying? I don't have a clue. I hope someone on this forum can tell me what to do. The only things happening to my little flock are rapid changes in the weather. In the past month we've had everything from 11 F to 66 F, accompanied by sun, snow, sleet, rain, wind, and mud. Plenty of mud lately. I despise mud.

My 6 mo Sussex began laying last weekend-daylight savings time. She laid an egg almost everyday for five days but nothing since. I just checked her rear and didn't feel an egg or a nothing hard. No evidence of egg eating and searched the yard for an egg. She did sit on my other pullets egg yesterday. In the nesting box but this breed can be broody. The receive high quality organic layer feed, free choice oyster shells and free range. I feed her some bread soaked in olive oil yesterday to get things moving. She seems fine but I'm concerned. Can they just stop laying for days and still be healthy??

Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated!
