I’m so glad the babies are OK, that must have been terrifying for both of you!
So glad they’re okay. Poor birds.
Usps is the only shipping company that ships live animals so never is your only option. Amazon has put an unholy strain on all shipping companies so this is just going to keep getting worse, sadly.https://www.npr.org/2024/10/15/nx-s1-5108678/farmers-blame-delays-by-u-s-postal-service-for-birds-dying-during-shipments#:~:text=through the mail.-,Breeders, hatcheries and customers blame postal slowdowns and delays, birds now dying in transit.&text=MICHEL MARTIN, HOST:,because deliveries are so slow.
I don't know why they didn't pick up their birds at the hatchery but anyway...
I won't be sending birds through the United States Abuse System again. Not until they get their ducks in a row. Which by my standards is probably never.
I have done that before but normally my birds aren't available when they have shows. There are community of people that do shipping. When some one is going to show they ask if anyone needs birds and deliver along the way. Or they frequent shows and see who is buying and is along their routs. They also feed and water the animals each day. Its probably the better way to do it but its not insured so there could be theft and such.
If there was demand it might be a business that could work out.
