Our pullets are about 8 weeks now and they won't eat anything but the chick starter feed we bought when we got them. They are our first flock and clicking around everyone suggests all sorts of snacks but our chicks wont have any of it. Are we doing it wrong? Should I be cutting things up a specific way or something? Maybe they are still too young? It's still pretty chilly here so they are still in our house in a box but when we take them out (when its warm) they peck around through the grass and dirt but no go on any of the snacks I have tried to give them.

They will be very wary at first of anything new, if you can leave the "snack" and let them work up their courage-they might try it! Have you tried freeze dried mealworms-That's a favorite with all my birds!

the only snacks mine ate as chicks (3 weeks old was crickets). when I moved them outside we swapped them over to scratch grains and cracked corn. Now only on cracked corn, Layena Omega, and oyster shell. Mine go nuts for anything generally we toss out but new stuff takes awhile. I started mine off on tomatoes and it took a bit but then it hasn't stopped since. try Crackers crumbled up. Crickets will do well also haha..
