I have recently got "really" into raising chickens. My grandmother introduced me to the joy of them. All of hers were exterminated by some sort of predator ( propably weasel) one night. Since then, I have re-wired the entire coop to ensure safety. The new chickens I have got (each are fairly young pullets, just started laying a week ago and one same age rooster) and they will absolutly not lay their eggs in their very nice coop. Any suggestions on how to make the coop more appealing to these babies? They will go in it but make a nest of their own elsewhere. I even went to the length of building small laying boxes and they will have nothing to do with them. Do these guys prefer a type of bedding? What do you all do with new babies to teach them what a coop is? Any suggestions would be great!
Thanks!

Put some eggs or golf balls where you want them to lay.
They like to lay their eggs where others have laid theirs.
They like a dark and safe place to lay eggs.

Then block off where they are laying that you don't want them to lay.

Thanks! That trick is working nicely! I appreciate!
