Barnyard mix by an Americauna roo. Not too sure about the sex of the middle one...

Assuming siblings, and the same age, about 12 to 15 weeks?
Comb is the best indicator, which in this set would indicate male in the middle bird.
If that is a pea comb, those don't develop as quickly as single combs.

Ah Yes, age is 10 weeks. Hens have some pea comb breeds and some with regular combs like barred rocks, marans, leghorn, etc.

In mixed breeds, watch the comb and wattle development.
Red earlier than point of lay indicates male.
Mixed won't follow neat and tidy breed development for obvious reasons.
But, I like my backyard mixes. Hardy. Good layers. Good foragers.
Some leave you guessing until egg or crow.

That's a lot of pinky rose blush in that there comb....I'm thinking male.

But don't eat him yet! I've had backyard mixes mature early and gave away a hen! She, being broody hatched in early spring, laid by 14 weeks (no kidding).

Turned out to be a good layer too. :/
