Pumpkin has a stuffed nose, wheezing, etc.....Help!!!

My family's little Bantam Cochin hen, Pumpkin, seems to have a cold or something.

When she breaths, her breathing sounds like it's rattling and her nose sounds like it's full of mucus. Her eyes are bright and normal, there are no bubbles or anything. Also, her nose isn't runny. It's completely dry. Her feathers look fine, her face isn't swollen or anything...The only thing that gives me the idea that she's sick is because of her wheezing and sneezing. I think she might just have the common cold. I don't think it's Infectious Coryza, because her head is not swollen, she doesn't have a runny nose, she doesn't have bubbly eyes, etc...Overall, she looks and acts fine except for the wheezing and sneezing.

Help! How can we help Pumpkin get better?

I would say that the best thing to do is to get her in a place that is warm and dry--no drafts. Perhaps you could put her in a dog crate with a heating pad set on low and a towel on the pad. Food and water too. Then cover the whole thing with a towel. If she just has a little cold the heat will help her fight it off. Keep an eye on her to make sure it doesnt get worse; she stops eating or drinking, develops a runny nose etc. Terri O

Chickens don't really get "colds" they get a variety of respiratory illnesses which are for the most part caused by viruses. Keeping her warm and dry are about the only things you can do for her more than likely.

I have one, Lucy, that I asked the very same things for 2 days ago..
Separate her, and keep her warm. go get Tylan 50 from the Tractor supply, or vet. Knocks it out quick. Everyone here knows what they are talking about! they knew more than my vet! Good luck, and once you use it, you will notice a difference in her very quickly.
