I prepare mine for the chickens by throwing them on the ground so they crack open. There are those who swear by pumpkin to prevent or treat worms. I haven't had a problem with worms in my flock, so I couldn't say one way or another.

i cut the stem off and then cut it in half, around the middle. I put one half in at at time, flesh side up. If it is big you might have to cut into quarters. They will clean out the insides.

They eat what they want, when they want.

They will all be gone by spring...

I just gave my girls a pumpkin yesterday and they seemed thrilled! It was awesome for my kids to get to help and watch the chickens get a treat.

My girls are picky eaters. They won't touch squash of any sort unless it's leftovers from supper. The pumpkin sits there drawing ants. They don't eat greens, either. I chop everything up small enough for them not to choke. Green pepper? seeds, not the flesh. Worse than my kids!
