Ah. If you know the father is aggressive out to freezer camp your roo goes. I fully believe it is 90% genetics and 10% handling and environment. Absolutely integrate the 2 year old in his place. Any roo can be a little cheeky as a hormonal teen, which should be easy to curb with one firm put down (my first roo who was the best ever challenged flogged me once, which I booted back, and he ran screaming like a little girl to hide behind the coop to never challenge me again). However you don't want to breed aggression. You've seen rising aggressive behavior and know aggression runs in his line....out he goes. Thanks! I see the quick progression. His father is aggressive (we know the family where we got most of our flock). I told myself if we kept a rooster from that group that he would go if there were any signs of aggression. I’m happy to read that I can easily integrate a new rooster.
Ivermectin is my go to for all integrations. I try to isolate at least a couple of days just for a good health check but I admit I often don't make the week if they look good.
Good luck with your new boy. He sounds like a keeper.
Be sure to wait a month before setting any eggs if the first boy was mating. It takes that long to clear the hens.
