I've heard that pumpkins are a natural dewormer, is this true? and if it is, does that include relatives of pumpkins like different types of squash?
is it ok to feed them this on a regular basis? I gave them a small pumpkin and they devoured it.

I'm going to grow a lot next year. Next to bananas, the hens love it the best. Not sure if the seeds are effective wormer fresh and uncut, maybe someone can express an opinion on that. VERY high in antioxidants, boosts your eggs in omega standards. You might want some free-feed oyster shell if you offer a lot of them.

The seeds are good for getting rid of tapeworms. They won't effect all of the other types of worms.

Someone on here told me that buttermilk and chopped pumpkin seeds are a natural dewormer.

I bought a bunch of pumpkins super cheap at the grocery store and mine go totally crazy over them. They love pumpkins!

I put our left over pumpkin from Halloween in their coop & they are slowly picking away at it. It got frozen a few days ago but it has since thawed & they do seem to like it, they are not real fond of the seeds, must be cause they are a bit large.

They enjoy the acorn squash too & those seeds are much smaller.

I put my Jack-o-lantern in the run and whoa! Stand out of the way! I tore it open so the stringy meat was exposed and they went nuts. Nothing but skin left. So next year I will ask the family to give me their J-o-ls!

My flock of 30 have eaten seven BIG pumpkins in the past month. Nothing left but the stem and skin. I have also read about the pumpkin seed/buttermilk thing. Haven't gotten around to buying buttermilk, but the pumpkins must surely be a good veggie for them!
