Since last week, we've been working on fixing the fence for the duck yard as I had fallen on it.
Anyway, our dog Mika helped her puppies get into the duck yard and they ate some of the food. I had fed the ducks non-medicated chick feed today as I'm going to be getting them a new bag of flock raiser today.

The puppies got into the chick feed, is it toxic to them? Will they be fine?
All 8 puppies are 8 weeks old and had gotten their first shots on Tuesday night.

I know that the feed has no effect on Mika as she's a little crap head and will sometimes sneak her way into the chicken yard as I'm feeding them and eat the feed.

My 9.5# min pin ate about 2 CUPS of fermented chick feed and looked like a sausage link. She had the longest BM you could ever imagine would come out of such a small dog the next day, but was otherwise unaffected by her dietary adventure.

The un-medicated food that you feed your chickens likely won't cause any harm to your dog unless they eat a huge amount of it. If you are using a medicated food for your chickens, the medication is not approved for use for dogs. The tougher chore will be to keep your birds away from your dog's food.

I read this post about the puppies and the chicken feed and laughed. If chicken feed is the worst thing your puppies get into you are a lot luckier than I have ever been.

Most puppies will eat anything that doesn't move faster than they do.. shoe's, purses, chicken feed, cat poo, etc.. my shitzu who's around 12 yrs old now thinks that the cat box is her personal tootie's roll stash.. can't close the door cause the cats need in, so if you don't keep her on a leash or keep a eye on her, she's in the box.. I had one of those auto cleans, the cat liked watching the rake go back and forth and burned out the motor by setting it off all the time.
