thats what i was thinking... keep him drinking and the amount of bacteria in the UT low you may want to get up in the middle of the night to take him pee.. see if he will drink diluted cranberry juice and take him to the vet in the morning

Cranberry juice and tablets of cranberry juice extract might help a dog with chronic bladder infections. Cranberry juice imparts an acidic (lower) pH to the urine. Acidic urine can help prevent or eliminate bacterial infections of the urinary tract. At least two bacterial inhibitors in cranberry juice, long believed to reduce bladder infections in humans, may protect dogs against urinary tract infections.

Cranberry juice can be offered straight or diluted with water but an alternative source of unaltered (plain) water should also be available. Therapeutic diets and medications can accomplish the same pH shift. Increasing the acidification of the urine should not be used as an alternative to antibiotic therapy, but as an adjunct or preventive treatment.

Brown urine means blood in the urine, your dog most likely has a urinary tract infection and should go to vet as soon as it is open.

Cranberry juice will not cure an infection if it is already there. Cranberry juice helps protect against infection before it happens. But if the infection is already in the urinary tract, the best thing to do is to keep the dog well hydrated, and get them to a vet as soon as possible before the infection can spread upward to the kidneys, causing serious problems.

Bladder infection are uncomfortable for pets like they are for people. But can easily be treated with antibiotics.

A bladder infection doesn't really require a trip to the Emergency vet, but it's better the dog should go to the vet first thing in the morning. The best thing to do for your dog right now is to provide lots of fresh clean water.

To help prevent another infection in the future it is best to keep her clean, and have her spayed.

Cranberry (and also Vit C) supplementation cannot be counted on to solve an acute urinary infection, but they can be started anyway until the puppy can be put on antibiotics. If you can collect a urine sample before you go to the vet (refrigerate and take with you) that will be a step ahead.

Then continue the cranberry and Vit C for a month or so.

Cranberry supplement can be purchased at WalMart very cheaply (capsules--open and mash with a tablespoon of butter).

Some dogs can be prone to UTIs and can develop kidney problems as a result, including kidney stones, so be sure to get it cleared up well. If you find it is an ongoing problem, there are dry dogfoods that are made with cranberry included.

Cranberry juice/capsules will not cure an existing infection. What cranberry does is make the lining of the bladdar unsuitable for bacteria to grow on and congregate. It will help prevent another one from coming back after the infection is killed off by antibiotics. Get her to the Vet and within a day or two she should be feeling MUCH better
