Purchased Coops

Another one you might consider is www.ezcleancoops.com by Leisure Woods. I've been debating getting one for a while now, and just went for it. At this time of year, the wait is 4 weeks, but it comes painted, shingled and you just have to attach the four walls, nest box and roof. I've been looking high and low for any BYCers or other chicken enthusiasts who might have experience with their coops but have only found a handful. I figured I'd take the leap and try it out! They are a bit more expensive than the Horizon Structures/amish-built coops, but the price includes shipping which is nice. The one piece of feedback I've heard from the Horizon coops is that they don't have adequate ventilation. Sounds like some have taken matters into their own hands and added more ventilation!

I did look at the ezcleancoops but they don't come in kits. With horizon I could get a kit and save a little bit. I'll be in the poor house after buying this coop, but my girls are worth it! This is the one I got, http://www.horizonstructures.com/coop.asp

The website says it can fit 12-15 chickens. . . I'm thinking move like 10?? Thoughts on how many will fit?

Thanks!

I got mine from www.chickenmobilestagecoach.com. Rick is the guy that I was in touch with to get it. It is a chicken tractor and has an open floor but a closed up nest box area, heater, solar fan, etc.....I live in Tennessee so it cost 650 to ship it from TX. But, its a gr8 quality product and I'm very happy with it. Check out their website. We got the 4x10 one and I have 9 chickens. My chicks are only 3 weeks old so hopefully in next couple weeks we can have them outside in the tractor.

Wow, that thing is neat! I haven't seen anything like that! We actually only need a coop, we already have a huge run that the horizon coop will be attached to.

I'm still hoping someone can tell me how many chickens will fit it the coop. The link for it is a few posts back.

Mine houses 8 chickens, 4 guineas, 5 ducks, and two peafowl. Now, they are not all in there at the same time. The chickens sleep in there and the other birds lay in there, as well as the chickens.

It works great for us, so far!

My coop is very similar, actually bought right outside of Lancaster, PA. I have 7 hens and 1 rooster and wouldn't put any more in it. Right now, I'm bugging DH to build me a bigger one so I can have more girls. We had the builder build ours but not put it together. We brought it home and built it on location. Basically, all the walls and nest boxes were done, all painted, we just had to assemble.

CrazyFowl, I'm glad your coop is so well used!

Sandy, I'm assuming yours is 4x6. I was hoping to be able to to fit 8-10. . . 2 of those being bantams. We'll see I guess!

Thanks!

Bill makes great playhouses, and you can have him make them larger to suit your needs.
He delivers too!
Much cheaper than buying a "coop".
Check my page to see my playhouse.

Sorry it's been a couple of days, but BLaBauve - EZ Clean Coops all come in kits actually. They arrive curbside, and are assembled in 30-60 minutes. I ordered the Coop-R design, which is 4x6 for my 11 hens (though I'm pretty sure one is a rooster, so 10 chickens).

It'll be here in a few weeks, and I can't wait! I'll have to let you know how it is
