Purchasing started chickens?

I have hens ranging from one to two yrs. old. Consequently, my egg production is way down and am looking to get a few more started. Does anyone know of a reputable breeder in Southern Maine, or even further North? My present layers came from a Farmers Union, but don't want to wait until Spring to order unless I have to.

I got my 9 week old pullets from a local breeder. I, too, wanted to avoid the baby chick stage. I also really liked being able to see where they came from, and how they were housed, and taken care of. I think I actually found them through BYC. So far, I'm really happy with that choice. They aren't super friendly, but with patience and lots of treats, they are warming up.
