Our daughter has a 2 yr old beautiful male white mini satan un-neutered bunny. We moved across country with him last July & have had him since he was old enough to leave the girl that bred him. Now, our daughter (13 yrs) is thinking of getting him a new home or begin a "bunny stud service." Does anyone have any experience w/"stud" fees, protocol, etc? We live in Georgia, now, and he is an inside, pet, bunny...I'd like to find someone nearby who may want to give him a good home. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks for any suggestions!

There's really no market for a stud rabbit, especially if he's never been shown. Most breeders aren't willing to stud their rabbit out to outside does due to the risk of injury and disease. Some people will loan a buck to a breeder they know, but they usually do it as a favor, or in exchange for a kit from one of the other breeder's litters.

IMO, either your daughter wants the rabbit or she doesn't. If she wants him, she should keep him and continue enjoying him as a pet-she could also look into showing and breeding, with the understanding she will lose, not make, money. If she doesn't want him, then you should find another home for him.

I agree about the stud service. there is too much to risk for it. I have only bred another persons rabbit as a favor. That was someone I knew and trusted. Either keep him as a pet. Or get her interested in breeding and showing.
