I compost any food that isn't eaten within the day. I'm worried it could get moldy, even if I can't see it, and make them sick. It isn't worth it to me. I pick up any food that spills on the ground.
I feed Mazuri waterfowl, it floats and I put it in their water buckets. I feed only what they can eat so I am throwing out minimal food. I also put food in a sloped dog dish that can not tip.
Since their bills are always wet or dirty I wouldn't feel comfortable with them eating from a container with multiple days worth of food.
