what the heck is going on? I know our local feed store sells Country Acres, which I heard is a sister company to Purina. I've used the Dumor brand as well too. For the past 2 or 3 months, my egg production has dropped considerably!

I just finished up a bag of Layena pellets about a week ago. I have noticed that egg production was down and the eggs I'm getting are of lesser quality, but I thought it was because I was not free ranging them much. I also having chickens that are sneezing. Thankfully, all I have now is scratch and I've been free-ranging them a bit more. Sure is disappointing to know that the food they're eating is probably the culprit.

I've been feeding Purina feed to all my animals for the past 30 years and we really dont have any issues or problems feeding them.

Yes it is mostly the case of the mill's storage problems and how long they have been stored. I've had issues with mold, weevils and I take them right back to the feed store and they promptly ordered new fresh bags of Purina every time.

I find Purina gives me better looking eggs, production is very good, birds are healthy and they eat but poop less and less smelly unlike other brands of feed I've been using. All of them are crumbles and my Flock Raiser was dusty but I mixed them up with Layena. Very little waste. I have to say it is a very good feed intake/outtake ratio.

Production usually down in the summer or when it is so hot, they would quit laying. Mine are taking a break since mid Jan laying until two weeks ago, they stopped. I would happily give them a few months off from laying so I don't unnecessarily burn them out.

I had issues with Purina Flock Raiser a couple of months ago. The bag was mostly dust. Not just one but several bags. I didn't look any closer to see if it was weevils or not. I just assumed I got the bag that was at the end of the assembly line that had left over dust. I don't remember seeing any webbing in though. I did return them. Had to go to a different feed store to get more. All Mill/feed store will have an occasional problem. I'm not one to jump the wagon too quickly. I give them a chance to correct it first before I make any decisions. As of now, I have and still do feed my mixed flock 'Flock Raiser'. I have healthy looking birds and good layers. They do free range a lot too. I liked the paper bags better as I thought it allowed the feed to 'breath' rather than choke in a plastic bag. One plus on the plastic bags is less chance of tearing. I hate that part on the paper bags.

Kirtusjon, I hope they get to the bottom of the issue.

I have had two leghorns on Purina flock raiser(more than a year now). One died a couple of months ago. (connection?) It had laid two eggs that were unusual. Both times she laid it, was an egg inside of another flimsy shell that looked more like strong tissue paper. Picture an egg that is loosely wrapped in tissue paper. They were larger than normal too. She died shortly after laying the second weird egg. My other leghorn is still healthy and is white as can be. No yellowing on her.

I just switched from Purina to Kent brands due to the dust in flock raiser and chick starter, haven't noticed webbing, but will look, (I still have a few bags left of the start and grow). I buy the Kent products at Meyers Hatchery and it is cheaper then the Purina.
