Hi guys. I feel so annoying because this is my second post but I’m over thinking and just need an opinion.
I read on here that Purina Flock Raiser is good for ducklings/ducks so I ended up buying it. When I went online to look on the Purina website, it also had a medicated version available. I clicked on it to see if the bag was any different but turns out, it didn’t show a different picture and the medicated flock raiser online picture looks the same as the non medicated. I of course just got home and realized this. I’ll include links to the pictures of the food. It doesn’t look like it says anywhere on it that it’s medicated but now I’m just completely unsure. It does say ducks on the back and I know the medicated one said it should only be fed to chicks. Did I buy the correct bag? Sorry again for so many questions I’m just so new to this and want to make sure I’m doing everything right. :) Ducklings are a week old btw

Welcome to BYC! Is there a list of ingredients on your bag?
Thanks! This is all I found online about nutrients. I can’t seem to find anything on the bag.

I do have brewers yeast to add to their food to supplement the niacin. But I’m reading reviews of people saying they noticed niacin deficiency in their ducks using this food. Ugh. I feel like I’m just doing everything wrong!

Interesting!
This is what mine looks like.

The ingredients are on the tag on the bottom of the bag.

Also interesting.....this tag says 40# while the bag itself says 50#.
ugh I think this is the bag I was looking for. Shoot. I haven’t even opened it yet so I guess I’m going to return it and see if they have what you have in stock. How long would I feed the bag you have to my ducklings? And what would I then switch to if needed?

Donna, I'm curious, are the pellets smaller than the normal kind or the same? I didn't know if they could be fed to ducklings, or had to be grounded up.

I think they are skinnier. I will grind them up but it's not hard at all. I can just use a mortar and pestle to do it. It won't be long as fast as they grow that they will be able to just take in the pellets. @Runner duck mom did for her ducklings in the fall. Maybe she'll chime in but I don't think she had to do it for long.

Ok I must be losing my mind. TSC said the bag I got and the bag you got are indeed the same. And I ended up find the ingredients list it was crumpled at the bottom of the bag on the outside and it does have niacin. I’ve been working in a surgical center during this pandemic so I think wearing the N95 masks all day is affecting my brain now 😂 the reviews on my bag do say people still noticed niacin deficiency but others like Isaac, have helped me on this forum of what to do in that case so I think it’s all good. Fingers crossed!
