Well ideally the first number is 0 for 2020! If it's a 9, December might be okay too. See if your gander will eat the new stuff. But there's a chance his problem is not related to the feed.
When I go to the feed store, if I don't see a new enough date, I ask to see what they have in the back. I have asked them to pull a fresher one from the bottom of the stack too.

Do you want to look at my other thread? That might help. I did a molasses flush, could it be from that? I'm kinda at a loss. I just keep running into walls with him. He didn't really want the chicken food either, and that's new.

I don't think I can help with the gander's problem. I just happened to know about dates on the bag, because a couple years ago we called Purina and asked.

If it smells okay, it probably is okay. Six months isn't terrible for a bag of feed, but the nutrients will have degraded over that period, decreasing the nutritional value. When you go for a new bag check all the sew tapes until you find one that has a mill date of no older than January,2020. Ask the stock clerk to pull it out of the pile and don't feel guilty when he heaves a sigh at you.

Dump the remainder of the old feed into a large bowl and look it over carefully for mold and weevils. The first is harmful and the latter is indicative of old feed best tossed out.

Your goose is just fresh from a possible digestive tract disorder. He may not feel like eating his regular food right away. I always give a recuperating patient some boiled egg or crumbled tofu with some Nutri-drench sprinkled over it. I know he's had Nutri-drench recently, so only put it on a bit to see if he'll eat it.

You can also see if he'll eat some canned mackerel. And, not to be cute but, there's always chicken soup. These things will tempt his appetite and get things moving again.

I second checking the feed he's been refusing to eat. Is it off in some way? He'll know before you do! Or, he's just not that hungry yet.
Rotating stock is a problem at many stores, so another reason to check those mill dates very time.
I called Purina Mills last week, and was told that poultry feed is good for six to nine months or more. Really? How's it been stored? Where? Especially over summer, how long in a hot truck or warehouse? Do they test that stuff after so many months?
I'll stick with 'buy fresh'!!!

No he's been on that forever. Ever since he hatched.

Could be something else then, but....
I once had an older bag of feed(6mo and different brand) they ate it but less than usual.
When I got a fresher bag they ate like crazy.
