I just wanted to let anyone know if your using gamebird starter with BMD on the label, it will not protect against cocci.. only enteritis..

Amproluim is only approved for use on pheasants. quail and chuckar are not approved by the FDA.

however if your birds get cocci, the normal stuff we use to treat in our pheasant and chickens will pretty much work on the quail as well. just the FDA hasn't approved it for certain species..

however Purina does not mention anything on the BMD in the starter other than on labels, but it is what i use as well...i keep the normal coccie meds on hand at all times.

but they do mention this on the site..

Medicated Gamebird Chow Available: Purina was the first to introduce a medicated line of pheasant feeds. The product is medicated with 0.0175% Amprolium to be fed continuously as a sole ration. This level is 40% higher than levels used for turkey rations. CAUTION: Pheasant Chow

product is not recommended for quail, chukars, duck, or geese because Amprolium is not FDA cleared for these species.

heres the link, scroll down and look under...Feeding all Game Bird Breeders
