I took my first trip to TSC today!

...And came home with 2 mallards! It was kind of a quick decision, and I ended up buying them Purina Medicated Start & Grow, as this was what TSC was feeding them. After coming home and researching, I saw a lot of people had mixed feelings about feeding ducklings medicated starter. Has anyone had a bad experience with this specific brand? What should I be looking for in the ingredients that tell if it's lethal or not?

Never had any problems with it. I've used it on my chickens and Purina Flock Raiser is a good product to use on most birds however I have never raise ducks so someone in here should guide you better than I can.

On my chickens, I've used Flock Raiser and Layena combo so everyone can benefit it and for chicks, I've used medicated Start and Grow without any problems. Healthy chicks!

i am feedig mine starter that has amprolium in it. thats the med. i have also read to switch them to a grower feed at two weeks of age. thats what i did today. and they grow real fast to. mine are two weeks old.

we have 50 baby ducks on it and have not had a problem. they have been on it since day one and are about 5/6 weeks old and healthy as can be

I'm not sure "not having a problem" yet is a good reason to feed a duck food that is not recommended for them. I was expressly told NOT to feed this type of medicated chicken food to a duck as if it could be fatal. I just acquired a baby Cayuga in the last week and 3 baby chickens. They are all separate because of the food issue.

I'm going to have check with a vet. The farm stores give out so much horribly incorrect and plain out ignorant information.

Most medicated feed will KILL ducks, but some types of medication are ok. Dave Holleread's book has a lot of info on this.
