I wonder if I cross some of these if I'll get a purply tint. I think some have a pinkish hue.

I created a thread to collect observations on egg blooms because I'm totally obsessed with how it affects egg color! For the most part it seems purple eggs are a dark brown egg with heavy bloom, and pink (like my EE's eggs) is tan with a heavy bloom. Lavender, lilac, and gray eggs are usually a heavy bloom over an olive egg (yes, really)! Olive eggs are made by crossing a blue egg layer with dark brown genetics.

Unfortunately there is no breed that consistently lays a purple, pink, or lavender egg (yet!) BUT there are promising projects selectively breeding for heavy blooms.

I have a beautiful speckled polish that from day one laid pink eggs? I contacted the breader who said she doesn’t have any who lay pink eggs. How can this happen? We will try and breed her to another of her Roos and hopefully keep the gene going, any suggestions are appreciated.
