PB, you are right. There's tons of them. I remember when I joined in June 2007, I felt like a big wallflower - I never caught anybody's attention, I was never popular, and nobody ever posted on threads I started. It was about a year later that it got nicer for me.

All I did was figure out which people I liked (their attitudes, humor, etc), and always posted on their threads to support them. I also PM'd people if I admired their comments or photos.

On BYC, it works to observe for a few months, get to recognize the same people and their little pecularities (i.e. PC & mayo, Debi and yappy fingers, Boyd and foster kids, Saddina and knife throwing) and decide who you want for a friend. With any luck, they'll like you too and a year later, your PM box and threads will be full of pesky people who won't leave you alone. It's wonderful but takes a long time.
