Purple comb

Hi I was wondering why my chicken had a purple comb. I noticed this after a really cold night. Her waddle and comb is kind of swollen. Is this just some sort of frostbite or something other?

Looks like frostbite to me, but unfortunately I don't have a clue as to how to treat it. :/ Hopefully someone else peeks in and instructs you on how to treat it. Best of luck!

I'd say frostbite as well, but again I don't know how to treat it. I've heard to help prevent it you can coat their comb and waddles with petroleum jelly.

Frostbite. I do nothing and they heal up without any problems. Touching the tissue too much can damage it more. He will look miserable for a few days, uncomfortable for a few weeks and than be fine. Parts may or may not fall off. Anything that turns black will eventually.

That looks like frostbite. It will winter trim.

If the whole thing was purple I would say circulation or kidney problems..
