purple egg layers

Sorry, I know this thread is a little older but I came across it when searching for some stuff! Lol but there’s no such thing as a purple egg and it’s not really possible to breed for then. The “purple” eggs you see are actually dark brown eggs with a heavy bloom over the top that gives it a purple hue. When these eggs are wet, they look like a normal brown. When they dry, it’s purple it’s again. Some hens might lay one egg in their life with this bloom, some might do it randomly, some might do it every day! It’s just the luck of the draw lol. I REALLY wish someone could find a way to breed for that bloom but so far I haven’t heard of anyone doing this.

This is on a hatchery page for olive Egger a doesn’t that egg top left look purple?

I'm going to breed her to a Marans one season and Araucana another season, raise up the daughters and see how many inherit the thick bloom. I'll also breed two of her sons to see if he passes it to their daughters

Maybe that’s what I am seeing....who know but it looks like a fun challenge anyway. Keep the mystique and mystery of chickens alive!!!
