Purple Eggs?

I heard that there have been chickens that laid purple eggs, but that was never actually verified. I was wondering, is it possible for a chicken to lay a purple egg? And how would that color come about? A blue egg layer with a pink egg layer?

I have a Black Sex-link that lays mauve eggs, which is a purplish tan. They are very pretty and really spice up the egg carton.

Purple eggs are actually just Brown eggs with a heavy calcium bloom on top.

I'll buy that. The mauve tint seems to disappear if I have to soak any poop off the egg.

Some people say that Croad Langshans lay purple eggs. Mine have laid mauve eggs, but not overtly purple one.

none. You just need to get your hands on a hen that lays purple eggs and breed her siblings or Sons back to her in hopes of getting more hens like her. there are not combination that you just can cross to make them, they are all brown eggers.
