My buff Orpingtons comb has some purple tips and is quite floppy. We have a Rhode Island Red who’s comb is a bit floppy too. They both seem healthy. It has also been on the nicer side here with some rain that has cooled things off a bit. So far I have read the a floppy comb is just a characteristic but the purple color is what I’m mainly concerned about.

Forgot to add the pictures

I would make sure that she is drinking well, especially if it has been hot (as it has been in OH.) I like to have multiple shaded waterers inside and outside the coop, so they always have a chance to keep hydrated well, and get a drink before going to roost or first thing in the morning. It may be circulatory or dehydration, but keep an eye on her since it might be her heart.

I have been. I noticed last night when I was putting them up for the night. Today she is still acting normal and running to me as soon as she sees me hoping to get scratch. Her comb today is looking much better. Just a little purple on the very tip. Little bigger than the ball point of a pen. I use a nipple watered. Should I switch to a normal one. Also very mild weather wise today in the 70s. Feels great

I would put some regular water bowls out. I have never used nipple waterers, but in hot summer weather, I will have as many as 8 waterers out, mostly black rubber rubber bowls and regular plastic chicken waterers. I have less than 20 chickens, but wild birds are around as well. Some birds will cool off in shallow wide pans 1/2 full.

We tried a kiddie pool, they will have nothing to do with it. So, it's making frogs right now! :idunno
