It's weird, the reaction you can get from people when you rush out to the coop to watch your girls lay, to make sure things go alright.
I make sure I'm in the coop, beside the hen who's laying, to see to it that things go alright, and you won't believe the scoffing from the family. No one in my family thinks much of the chickens, and yet they eat their eggs with gusto! It is alarming to see how pale they get when they lay; mine will sit, almost as if they're in a trance, for a few moments after laying the egg. I guess they must be exhausted... poor babies...
