PUSH! PUSH!

It's weird, the reaction you can get from people when you rush out to the coop to watch your girls lay, to make sure things go alright.

I make sure I'm in the coop, beside the hen who's laying, to see to it that things go alright, and you won't believe the scoffing from the family. No one in my family thinks much of the chickens, and yet they eat their eggs with gusto! It is alarming to see how pale they get when they lay; mine will sit, almost as if they're in a trance, for a few moments after laying the egg. I guess they must be exhausted... poor babies...

I've watched one of my hens 'drop one' before, she stood up, arched her neck, and then poof! There was an egg! But she threw a hissy fit once she realized that I was standing there watching her, covering her egg, puffing out her feathers, and screaming at me, I had never heard such an alarming noise! Well, i really like the pictures at the beginning of this post, they made me giggle just a bit.

It is amazing to watch the egg laying process. It scared me at first to witnesses it.

I had the privlidge to watch our first egg being layed in our flock. I went out to the pen to spend some time with the girls
when I noticed one of them acting very different. I thought that she was sick or hurt, so I followed her and before my
eyes she layed our first egg. I still can't believe that I was able to witness it. It was the first time that I have ever seen
any egg being layed, up till now I bought all my eggs at the store so I never knew what was behind the process. After
she walked off announcing how proud she was. It taught me to never take their work for granted. I appreciate every egg that they
lay and thank them every day when I go to the coop and collect them.

Here is a few pics of our first egg.
